Biggest Fan

Joshua is really getting into the Olympics. He loves to watch the different sports, and clap for the athletes. Here he is cheering for the divers...

Soap Cloud

Joshua and I did a little science experiment, and made a soap cloud. This basically entails putting a bar of soap in the microwave, and watching it heat up until it forms a "cloud." When it's done, it's a solid, spongy formation. Once it cooled down, I gave it to Joshua to play with during his bath. I don't think he has ever been cleaner than after that bath!

Rumba and Maracas

I LOVE watching Joshua at the library music class. He is so attentive to what the teacher is doing/saying, and he smiles and giggles the entire time.

Little Stinker

Joshua got a hold of my car keys, and started pushing the various buttons. It wasn't long before he discovered how to make the van beep from our garage. If you turn the volume up a bit, you can hear the van beep every time he pushes the button. He was amused, but quickly ran and hid once I stopped taping him and tried to confiscate the keys.

Six Months Old

It's hard to believe, but our little "Peanut" is six months old today! Makayla certainly lives up to her middle name, and brings so much joy to our family of four. Her smile is infectious, and melts the hearts of everyone she comes in contact with.

Here's what's new with Little Miss MJ:

* Makayla received a great report at her six-month well-visit. She weighed in at 16.1 pounds (54th percentile), and measured 26.5 inches (80th percentile). We did get some bummer news in that our pediatrician will be returning to UNM for a faculty position. I really appreciated how great she was with the kids, and will miss her a lot. She referred us to a couple of other pediatricians within the practice, so hopefully we'll find someone just as sweet and knowledgeable.

* Makayla is getting really good at eating solid foods. We are starting to experiment more with various foods, but just like her brother, she loves to eat sweet potatoes.

* We don't have any teeth yet, but it won't be long before those pearly whites break through. She has been a little more fussy as of late, and everything is going in her mouth as a means of soothing her gums.

* Makayla is a rolling machine, and is starting to piece together four to five barrel rolls in a row (from back, to tummy, to back, etc.). For now, this is her desired mode of transportation.

* She is starting to sit up unassisted for short spurts of time.

* She is averaging about 10.5 hours of sleep each night. We generally put her down around 7:30pm, and she is our (very consistent) alarm clock at 6:00am each morning. She is also a great napper, taking three naps a day. The best part is that her middle nap overlaps Joshua's nap, so I get a few hours to play catch-up sans kids.

* She adores Joshua! She watches everything he does, and he knows it. I can't wait until they are able to really play with each other. For now, he is content sharing a cup of tea with her, or handing her various toys and taking them right back. They are already speaking to each other in their own language, and they constantly make each other giggle. He is a great big bro, and loves on her so sweetly with his kisses and eye pokes. I just love those two to pieces!!!

Nasal Unhappiness

Makayla does this new thing where when she's unhappy, she breathes in and out heavily through her nose...

Truck Love

Have I mentioned how much Joshua loves Chuck the Truck?!
