Makayla is 2 months old

The kids had their 2 month (Makayla) and 18 month (Joshua) well-visits last Friday. Thankfully, Andrew accompanied me to their appointments, so I didn't have to endure their craziness and tears by myself. Makayla and Joshua both checked out great. Joshua weighed in at 28.1 pounds (77th percentile), and is measuring in at 32.5 inches (54th percentile). Makayla weighed in at 10.9 pounds (55th percentile), and is measuring in at 23 inches (77th percentile). As you can see, Joshua is short and stout, while Makayla is lean and long. This is just one of the differences we are noticing right off the bat with these two kids : )

Since I already did Joshua's 18-month-old update, here's a few words on Makayla turning two-months-old: Makayla has grown leaps and bounds since her one-month-old update. She is much happier these days, and it shows with all of the smiles and coos that she gives throughout the day. She's doing great with sleep, as she averages about a 6 hour stretch at night, followed by another 3-4 hour stretch before we start the day. I love only having to wake up once during the night to feed her! She's also doing pretty good with naps, so I'm happy overall with her sleep habits thus far. I'm hoping she will take after Joshua and be a master sleeper! We have a feeling that we are going to have another thumb sucker because she is constantly gnawing on her fist. She is very alert, and loves to scan the room to see what is going on. It is fun to see her personality take shape, and to observe the differences between her and Joshua. From two months on, it seems like they change and grow so quickly...let the journey begin!

18 Months

Joshua is a year-and-a-half old today! Our little man is growing up so quickly - both physically and intellectually. It is fun to watch him take in everything around him. Kids are so impressionable! His toys are starting to become actual objects of learning rather than grenades. He is putting much more thought into how things work and function. His favorite activities right now are stacking anything and everything, flipping through books (not necesarily reading them), walking between the furniture, dancing to music and sing-alongs, poking Makayla's eyes and wiping her spit-up, playing with his balls, and taking things out of a box and putting them back in (over and over again). We can't wait until Makayla is a little older, and can actually play with Joshua. We can already tell that those two are going to be best buds! Joshua is such a fun little guy to be around. His smile and dimples are contagious, and he makes us laugh everyday. He melts our hearts with those big blue eyes of his, and wraps us around his finger a little more with each new day. He's definitely a mama's boy (which I love), but he's also the first one to greet Andrew at the door screaming, "Dada," in an excited voice. A year-and-a-half already...we love you, JAG...

Funny for the day

Andrew and I found this blog post to be pretty funny in light of our current situation. If anything, it will give you a good laugh if you have kids:
